World Design Day – 2023

World Design Day is a day that celebrates the power of design to make the world a better place. From designing products that solve social problems to creating visual materials that raise awareness about important issues, designers have the ability to create positive change and improve people’s lives.

But let’s be real here, sometimes design can be a little bit ridiculous. We’ve all seen those products that make us think, “who in their right mind thought this was a good idea?” (I’m looking at you, avocado-shaped soap dispenser).

Despite some questionable design choices, there are plenty of ways that designers can use their skills for good. Here are a few examples:

Social Impact Design

Social impact design involves using design thinking to solve social problems and create positive change. This can include designing products, services, or experiences that address issues such as poverty, inequality, and access to healthcare.

Designers can use their skills to create products or services that solve social problems. For example, a designer may develop an affordable and accessible healthcare product that can be used by people in low-income communities. Social impact design can also involve designing experiences that create positive social change. For example, a designer may create a public art installation that raises awareness about a social issue or creates a sense of community engagement.

Sustainable Design

Sustainable design involves creating products, services, or systems that are environmentally friendly and socially responsible. This can include designing products that are made from recycled materials, designing buildings that are energy-efficient, or designing transportation systems that reduce emissions.

Sustainable design is important because it helps to reduce our impact on the environment and create a more sustainable future. Designers can help create a better world by designing products that are environmentally friendly and socially responsible. For example, a designer may develop a product that can be recycled or composted at the end of its life, reducing the amount of waste that goes to landfill. They may also design buildings that are energy-efficient, reducing the amount of energy required to heat and cool the building.

Visual Communication Design

Visual communication design involves using design to communicate a message or idea to an

audience. This can include designing logos, posters, and other visual materials that help to raise awareness about a particular issue or promote a social cause.

Designers can use their skills to create visual materials that help to promote social causes and raise awareness about important issues. For example, a designer may create a poster that promotes the importance of recycling or a logo for a social justice organization. Visual communication design can be used to create a powerful message that can inspire people to take action and create positive change.

Inclusive Design

Inclusive design involves designing products, services, or experiences that are accessible to everyone, regardless of their abilities or disabilities.

Designers can use their skills to create products, services, or experiences that are accessible to everyone. For example, a designer may design a website that is easy to navigate for people with visual impairments or a product that can be used by people with physical disabilities. Inclusive design is important because it helps to create a more inclusive and equitable society, where everyone has access to the same opportunities and experiences.

Design may have its ridiculous moments, but at the end of the day, it has the power to create positive change and make the world a better place. So whether you’re a designer or just someone who appreciates good design (and maybe the occasional avocado-shaped soap dispenser), take some time on World Design Day to celebrate the impact that design has on our world.

A computer.

But, no seriously, we use Wordpress. It’s widely used, open source, and easy to host anywhere if you ever decide you hate us.

We work with companies from all industries that are all sizes. Our requirements for working together is simple. We don’t hate each other and we believe that we can provide real results.

Yes we do. From capturing the footage to editing it into its final form, all our work is done here.

Hell yes you do. We get it, some companies will write you a blog but claim that they own the content as a way to retain your business, that’s bullshit and we don’t play that game. It’s yours to keep once you’ve paid for it.

Firstly, there is no cost to meet with us and talk about what we can do for you. Second, each and every quote is custom. We don’t prepackage anything. We can however say that our base rate is a hell of a lot lower than most you will find out there.

Apart from having implications in the movie Blade Runner (where the company gets its name) we ourselves are somewhat of a unicorn in the fact that we offer a fair price for top tier services. We pretty humble, regardless of how many awards we’ve won.
